Title: Hello Post by: edclef on February 17, 2010, 05:53:40 PM Hi, I'm Ed. I got here via a backlink from a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2OqQ6-ESp4) of one of my projects.
One doesn't need to be invited to join, right? You can see the development history of the project here (http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=6168.0). I don't really have anything else online at the moment, except a twitter (http://twitter.com/edclef)feed with not-much happening on it. I'm a game developer who has found himself making a notgame. If it ever gets any game... um "interaction" mechanics, I guess I can rest easy again :) Title: Re: Hello Post by: Michaël Samyn on February 17, 2010, 06:35:22 PM Welcome! :)
Title: Re: Hello Post by: Kaworu Nagisa on February 17, 2010, 06:56:43 PM Cool cool. I really like the 3D world of pixels :)
In the description of the video you wrote that it is not only explorable but also survivable game (or notgame). I get the exploration but what do you plan to be the survival part of the (not)game? EDIT: And Hello! :) (oh dear, my manners are making friends with bums now!) Title: Re: Hello Post by: increpare on February 17, 2010, 07:31:39 PM Oh hallo ed!
Fancy seeing you here : ) Title: Re: Hello Post by: edclef on February 17, 2010, 09:18:27 PM Hello!
I've been thoroughly enjoying reading through some of the discussions here, I like how you guys think :) Cool cool. I really like the 3D world of pixels :) In the description of the video you wrote that it is not only explorable but also survivable game (or notgame). I get the exploration but what do you plan to be the survival part of the (not)game? Thanks! Well, the survival stuff is only partly implemented so far. The idea to is to provide some pacing to the exploration (you would gather food, rest, etc) and also to increase the feeling of "situatedness" in the world, taking inspiration from real survival/bushcraft. You know, living off the land, having a relationship with nature, that sort of thing. Title: Re: Hello Post by: Kaworu Nagisa on February 17, 2010, 11:16:55 PM Wow. It sounds very, very interesting. Bushcraft but especially connection between man and nature interest me. Please keep us up-to-date with your project! :)
Title: Re: Hello Post by: edclef on February 17, 2010, 11:42:43 PM I hope it works! Updates when they happen will probably be on the TIGS thread and twitter... or at least, if they aren't they'll be something in those places saying where they are (like if I ever get round to setting up a site)
Title: Re: Hello Post by: Kaworu Nagisa on February 18, 2010, 12:28:34 AM Me no likes TEEAYEGEE forums, no likes TWATER too.
Would be splendid if you could keep as up-to-date here :) Title: Re: Hello Post by: Víctor Marín on February 18, 2010, 03:06:26 PM Hello!
Your engine makes me remember Wurm Online, but with more coherent graphics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GEyxIPOIbs&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GEyxIPOIbs&feature=related) Title: Re: Hello Post by: edclef on February 18, 2010, 05:45:49 PM Would be splendid if you could keep as up-to-date here :) Fair enough :) Where should I post updates? In this thread? Or make a new one in some other area? It would probably only be a temporary thing anyway as I really should get on with setting up a site/blog at some point... @Victor - Thanks, I will do some research into that! Title: Re: Hello Post by: Kaworu Nagisa on February 18, 2010, 05:55:57 PM Would be splendid if you could keep as up-to-date here :) Fair enough :) Where should I post updates? In this thread? It seems like that would be the appropriate place for it: http://notgames.org/forum/index.php?board=6.0 ^_^ Title: Re: Hello Post by: edclef on February 19, 2010, 12:16:17 AM Cool, will do!
Title: Re: Hello Post by: God at play on February 23, 2010, 11:29:55 PM Welcome Ed :D
I really enjoyed seeing Proteus/Nodeland a while back. I hope you continue work on it. And it will be great to have you in some of these discussions, too. Title: Re: Hello Post by: Derrick on March 10, 2010, 09:35:36 AM Wow.... all I can say is.... I wish I had designed that world! Love the art style, it works so well! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
Title: Re: Hello Post by: edclef on April 13, 2010, 09:41:09 AM Hey, just a small bump here to say this project is back on track and acquiring a new dynamic/reactive music system to go with the exploration. I'll make a proper thread when there's more to see...
Title: Re: Hello Post by: Michaël Samyn on April 13, 2010, 09:42:30 AM Make that thread already, you tease! ;)
Title: Re: Hello Post by: edclef on April 13, 2010, 09:46:43 AM Soon!
Title: Re: Hello Post by: edclef on June 12, 2010, 02:37:09 PM I finally made that project thread:
http://notgames.org/forum/index.php?topic=241.0 Not much new to see yet! Title: Re: Hello Post by: JordanMagnuson on June 15, 2010, 04:34:18 PM Welcome Ed! Just now took a look at that video, and I like it a lot. Very keen to see where the project goes.
